SHREWSBURY: ONE OF THE ENGLAND'S LOVELIEST TUDOR TOWN

Shrewsbury is the county capital of Shropshire in the West Midlands region of England, lying on the river Severn; it is an historic market town with the town centre having a largely unaltered medieval street plan.
This city was for many centuries a critical defensive point to help keep the Walsh in line.

It also the birthplace of Charles Darwin , a biologist and evolutionary theorist, one of the most important thinkers of the nineteenth century and one of the greatest scientist of all time.



SIGHTS

The Shrewsbury Abbey is the most lovely red-sandstone abbey of the all county and is what remains of a large Benedictine monastery founded in 1083; the abbey is renowned for its acoustics and for severals recitals.


We suggest you a great walking tour starting at the tourist office that is near the Shrewsbury's 16th-century Market Hall, hub of the historical wool trade.


St. Mary's Church is a medieval building which has one of the highest spires in England, you cannot miss it!

Shrewsbury Castel: is a red sandstone castle located on a hill situated on the neck of the meander of the river Seven which the town originally grew up. It was therefore built as a defensive fortification for the town, which was otherwise protected by the river.
